1st Snap - 70th Anniversary Celebration

In honor of the 70th anniversary of Willie Thrower's first snap in professional football on October 18, 1953, the Willie Thrower Award Foundation held a celebration in his home town of New Kensington, PA.

The schedule of events held from October 12th through October 18th, 2023 included a parade, homecoming festival, community day with a cook-out, various activities for young children, an essay contest, neighborhood walkathon, athlete skills demonstration, football skills camp, and live broadcasts. ​​
